The River of Life

Inspiration: This collection’s inspired by the beautiful scenery, natural charm and the immensity of the Mekong River during a boat trip along the border into the land of Laos toward Luang Prabang. The Mekong River flows through the long, narrow valleys from the mountains down to the lowlands which are rich in gold and natural minerals that provide varied lifestyles along its banks. Moreover, the flow of the Mekong River created the numerous islets in strange and yet beautiful shapes, but the most beautiful thing of the boat trip to Luang Prabang is the golden reflection of the sunset that glows in the water.

Description: This bag collection, we use Ikat (Mudmee) tie-dye technique. This tie-dye is a technique in which the hand woven fabric is tied and folded or knotted in different ways and dyed in natural colors to create beautiful motif designs in the dyed fabric like the current patterns and water flows in the Mekong River. Also using gold thread to weave gorgeous fabric to make the brilliant light reflection that seems like the sunlight reflection of the sunset on the water surface of the Mekong River. Moreover, this collection decorated with Karen’s gold vermeil pendants to represent the prosperity of cultures and natural resources in the Mekong River Basin.
